1,000 graduates from Rotary Club of Ewutuntun's skills acquisition program

Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun District 9110 will on Monday, Sept 5th, 2022 hold a graduation ceremony for 1,000 trainees of vocational skills at UNDP Centre, Oshodi – Isolo Local Govt Council, Oshodi, Lagos.

According to Rotarian Kudirat OlaOpoola, President of Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun, the vocational skills training for five weeks was conducted for unemployed youths by the club in partnership with Oshodi- Isolo led Chairman, Mr Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof and UNDP Skills Acquisition Centre.

Participants have trained in makeover, fashion and tailoring, catering, event planning, venue decoration, tie and dye of batik and adire, gele tying, hat making, computer graphic designs and cake making.

Kudirat Opoola added that ” financial empowerment and handing over of donated equipment shall be conducted by the Rotary International District Governor, Omotunde Lawson and Mr Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof, Chairman Oshodi – Isolo Local Government”.

Earlier during an inspection visit to the training at the UNDP Skills Acquisition Centre, the Local Govt Chairman, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Leke Banjoko while addressing the graduands enjoined them to make better use of the skills to become notable entrepreneurs so as to better the society.

Rotary International District 9110 Governor, Omotunde Lawson during her inspection visit charged trainees to continue to advance their knowledge base and practice as start ups and earn decent living as entrepreneurs.

Graduands apart from receiving certificates are to be financially empowered with various tools of trade and equipments: hairdressing machines for hairdressers, sewing machines for fashion designers, and laptops for graphic designers, among others.
