The highly anticipated 2022 MTV Video Music Awards took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Nicki Minaj and LL Cool J, two iconic rappers and actors, served as hosts.
The Best Artist Award was won by Bad Bunny, who created history.
Attendees and spectators alike were treated to legendary performances by Lizzo, J Balvin, Marshmello, Anitta, and Panic! at the Disco! Snoop Dogg and Eminem stunned audiences with a metaverse rendition of their nominated song “From The D 2 the LBC” while performing at the Disco alongside Kane Brown, Maneskin, and Jack Harlow.
Nicki Minaj delivered an emotional speech. Following a performance of a medley of several of her most well-known tracks, from “Super Bass” through “Super Freaky Girl,” Nikki Minaj was given the Video Vanguard award. She expressed her regret that Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson were unable to join her in New Jersey to celebrate after receiving the award in her address, saying, “I wish people took mental health seriously, even for those who seem to have perfect lives.”
