The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has described the 2023 general elections as the most important one for Nigeria.
The traditional who spoke late Tuesday in Abuja hoped that the election will open doors of opportunities for Nigerians as well as help in building a better and united country.
The Olu of Warri spoke when the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Bishop Isaac Idahosa, paid him a courtesy.
Atuwatse III who was in the company of his Council of Chiefs expressed delight at the visit of the NNPP Vice flag bearer.
He however expressed worries that Nigeria is currently at a crossroads and that the coming election is very instrumental to the country’s socio-political and economic well-being.
The Olu of Warri declared that people’s desire is for good leadership that can protect their interest.
We all hope for good governance. There is hope for this country Nigeria as citizens are particularly interested in this election and they would be up and doing regarding their civic responsibilities to vote”, he said.
He however hoped that the masses are better informed about the candidates, parties and manifestoes so as to make well-informed decisions.
In his remarks, Bishop Idahosa stated that he came with a message of goodwill from his political party
“The New Nigeria People’s party has come to wish the Olu of Warri well on his first year anniversary on the throne.:
He expressed how the Olu of Warri in a short while, has added style, simplicity, and elegance as well as improved quality of leadership.
Idahosa stated that his party represents fresh possibilities and restoration of the people’s hope through accountable representation, and promised to establish a structured process that would be of Benefit to all Nigerians.
He further stated that his party is very prepared despite being just four months old.
According to him, the party has been able to gain leverage and cut across nooks and crannies of the country and consequently, he was very sure of victory at the elections.
The high point of the visit was prayers offered by the Olu for the Vice presidential aspirant and his entourage.
In his prayers, the traditional ruler said: “The Lord bless them as they go and may they succeed in all their endeavours to restore the hope to the people.
“I pray anything that will not enable you to achieve your dream will be removed from your way. Favour will locate you”, he said.
