For pupils of Wesley School For The Blind, Baytul Sakeenah, Atunda Olu Homes and Modupe Cole Memorial, this year’s Eid-el-Kabir was a memorable one, as Lotus Bank partnered with Aims Media to put smiles on the faces of the children.
At the Eid-el-Kabir Family Party tagged Ileya 2023, the special needs pupils along with students from various schools had fun with indoor and outdoor games, quizzes, Qur’an recitation by Fajr Centre Ikorodu, Eid drama by Great Khilafa, Karate by At-Tanzeel School and Baytul-Sakeenah Orphanage, Bouncing Castle, Treasure Hunts among others with children going home with various gift items.
Speaking at the event, the Head, Brand Marketing Communication, Lotus Bank PLC, Mr. Bashir Salami, said the core of the existence of lotus bank is to promote ethical banking and ethical behaviour in the country.
“Lotus Bank decided to partner with Aims Media to promote the Islamic culture. Illeya is one of the biggest celebrations in the Muslim Ummah and it is only right we support such an initiative that helps students remain one within the Deen and also have fun at the same time. At Lotus Bank, We believe more in ensuring that we bring out the positivity of our kids by ensuring that they all follow the principle of the guiding culture of Islam.”
He added that Lotus Bank would continue to support programmes that will keep children and adults alike on the ethical standards of humanity. “LOTUS Bank has been set up to promote the ethical way of banking without interest. Making it easy for Muslims to grow financially. We are banking the Halal way because we cannot consume whatever is Haram to remain within the tenets of Islam.” He explained further.
“We are excited to be part of this and will keep supporting more programmes like this that protect and promote the morality of our children and that will promote the deen of Islam to take its place in the world.”
He noted that the bank would also be looking into women’s empowerment and the health sector. “We are also looking at going into the health sector apart from education. We are going to be focusing on women’s empowerment especially helping women to be independent.”
Head of Production Aims Media, Mr Jafar Muhammad, said the event was the second in the series which celebrates children with disabilities.
“This fun fest is organized to facilitate with children including those with disabilities as this will give every child a sense of belonging enjoined in Islam.” He called on corporate organisations to support this kind of event, saying, “Some companies have the money and resources to put smiles on the less privileged but they don’t know how to go about it, they can as well come to partner with us as Lotus Bank has done.”
The guest lecturer, Ustaz Muktar Oyetunji underscored the lessons of Eid-el-Adha, which include beneficial deeds, sacrifice as displayed by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and unconditional submission to the will of the Almighty.
